Editorial Policy
See how OSFILE researches printer models, separates verified compatibility from unverified claims, reviews troubleshooting content and handles corrections.

OSFILE is built around a simple editorial rule: the exact printer model matters more than a generic reset claim. This policy explains how model pages, guides and troubleshooting content are prepared and reviewed.
1. Model-first publishing
OSFILE keeps separate model pages because printers in the same family can differ in firmware, counters, maintenance design, region and supported service functions. We do not treat a nearby model number as proof of compatibility.
2. Verified claims vs pending information
Where a service function or operating-system claim is not verified for the exact package, OSFILE uses cautious wording such as “verify exact program build” rather than presenting a guess as a confirmed feature. A model page can exist before a downloadable file is ready so users can request the exact archive instead of being pushed toward a substitute.
3. Troubleshooting standards
Guides are written to separate four common categories: model compatibility, computer/connection problems, software counter operations, and physical printer maintenance. A software counter reset is never described as a replacement for required physical service.
4. Source and review approach
Compatibility notes can be informed by model records, utility support lists, service information, archived file metadata and direct observations available to the OSFILE library. When sources disagree or exact support cannot be confirmed, the page should say so rather than silently choosing the more convenient claim.
5. Corrections
Readers can report a correction through the Contact page. Useful correction reports identify the exact page, model, program build or service function and explain what should change. Material errors can be corrected, qualified or removed.
6. Advertising independence
Advertising does not determine which model pages, file requests or troubleshooting conclusions are published. Ads, when enabled, are visually separated from navigation and download controls. See the Advertising Policy.
7. No manufactured certainty
OSFILE does not invent a supported operating system, reset function, version number or file status merely to make a page look complete. Where certainty is not available, the content should communicate the limitation.
