Advertising Policy
Learn how OSFILE separates advertising from editorial content, printer downloads, navigation and file-request controls, and how ad cookies may be used.

OSFILE may display advertising to support the cost of maintaining the printer tools library. This policy explains how ads are kept separate from editorial decisions, navigation and download actions.
1. Ads are not download buttons
Advertisements are not intended to imitate OSFILE buttons, menus, “Download”, “Uploading File”, “Urgent File Request”, pagination or other navigation controls. Where an ad placement is used, it should have adequate visual separation from actions that a visitor may reasonably expect to perform on the site.
2. Editorial independence
Advertisers do not decide which printer models are listed, which service functions are described as supported, which errors are covered, or whether a file is marked as available. Paid advertising does not convert an unverified compatibility claim into a verified one.
3. Ad labels and accidental clicks
OSFILE aims to use clear ad containers and appropriate spacing so visitors can distinguish ads from site content. We do not ask visitors to click ads, place misleading instructions around ads, or intentionally position ads where a normal download or navigation click is likely to hit an advertisement instead.
4. Advertising technology and cookies
If Google AdSense or another ad platform is enabled, the provider may process cookies, consent signals, device information and advertising data according to its own policies and the choices available to the visitor. See the Privacy Policy and Cookies Policy.
5. Consent
For EEA, UK and Swiss visitors, consent-dependent advertising may require a certified consent-management flow. Advertising should not be enabled in a way that bypasses the consent requirements applicable to the chosen ad platform.
6. Report a confusing placement
If an advertisement appears too close to a download, request or navigation control, use the Contact page and identify the exact URL and device type. Placement can then be reviewed.
